Refractive parallax amblyopia

Refractive amblyopia is a common clinical condition, and we have seen several such cases in our clinic today, some of which were treated promptly and appropriately, with good visual acuity and binocular vision outcomes; others had unsatisfactory outcomes. From a physician’s point of view, it is a pity because it could have been treated to a very good disease. Therefore, we would like to summarize some of the things that we often tell our patients’ families in the clinic, and hope to draw their attention to them. Refractive amblyopia should be mentioned first: newborns are born with poor visual acuity, which will improve quickly with the establishment of the oculo-cerebral connection. The key to the establishment of the eye-brain connection here is the early visual experience. Clear retinal imaging is required to establish normal visual development and to obtain high resolution vision. The most critical stage of visual development is the first few months of life, and the developmental process continues until 6 to 8 years of age.
