Parkinson’s patients not only have motor symptoms such as tremor, tonicity and bradykinesia, but also commonly suffer from constipation and reduced gastrointestinal function. This is because studies have shown that early neurodegeneration in Parkinson’s patients is centered in the vagal nucleus, which is associated with the gastrointestinal tract through the vagus nerve. It is a common and non-motor symptom that affects the quality of life of Parkinson’s patients. What are some ways to relieve constipation? Here are a few common approaches that I hope patients will benefit from. 1, the first thing should be a balanced diet: increase the proportion of vegetables, fruits, grains and cereals, bean products intake, in order to increase the amount of food digestion and absorption after the residual, stimulate intestinal peristalsis, but also to retain some water, promote defecation. Put more vegetable oil to increase the lubrication of the intestinal tract, facilitate defecation; best to drink 6-8 cups of water a day to ensure that the body has enough water to moisten the intestines soft; avoid over-eating spicy and hot diet, easy to deplete the yin and water, inducing constipation. 2, develop a good habit of regular defecation: develop the habit of defecation once a day, drink a glass of warm water on an empty stomach after rising in the morning, and then go to the toilet to defecate (regardless of the intention to defecate), in order to cultivate and maintain the conditioned reflex of defecation, should not inhibit the intention to defecate. (Timing, concentration, clean) 3, appropriate exercise: “knead” – every morning and evening and after the nap with two hands overlapping to knead the abdomen, the navel as the center, clockwise knead 100 times.
