In today’s improving medical condition, the incidence of breast cancer, the most common malignant tumor in women, is increasing year by year. This reminds us that it is time to pay attention to the prevention of breast cancer! The prevention of breast cancer is based on three things: avoiding high-risk factors, regular screening and timely management of precancerous lesions. High-risk factors to be avoided 1. Benign breast lesions: benign lesions including atypical hyperplasia, sclerosing adenopathy and papilloma are considered to be related to the increased incidence of breast cancer. Therefore, these diseases should be dealt with as early as possible once they are detected. Some common breast diseases such as mild hyperplasia, simple fibroadenoma, ductal dilatation, breast cyst, mastitis, etc., will not turn into breast cancer and do not require surgical treatment. 2. Childbirth and breastfeeding: Early age of menarche, late age of menopause and late age of first pregnancy can increase the risk of breast cancer, while increasing the number of births can reduce the risk of breast cancer. In addition, a longer duration of breastfeeding can reduce the risk of breast cancer. The mechanism may be related to the suppression of the ovulation cycle that decreases estrogen levels and increases prolactin levels. From this point of view, children are indeed a gift from God to mothers. 3. Smoking and alcohol consumption: Several studies suggest that these two bad habits increase the risk of breast cancer. However, there are different views that whether smoking and alcohol addiction is a risk factor depends on genetic polymorphism and hormone receptor subtype. However, it is better to quit, unless you know your genes and receptors very well. 4. History of breast cancer in the immediate family: the closer the blood, the more significant the effect. If you have a family history of breast cancer, you can only follow up and try to avoid other risk factors. 5. Others: Ionizing radiation and environmental toxins have also been proven to be related to the development of breast cancer, especially in patients with a family history of breast cancer, who are more likely to be affected by the above factors. Regular screening for early detection and early treatment is fundamental to prevent and treat breast cancer. This includes self-examination, routine physical examination, etc. This studio will publish an article specifically on the frequency and content of screening in the near future, so I will not go into details here. Timely treatment of precancerous lesions Pre-cancerous lesions, such as atypical hyperplasia, should be treated as early as possible. Do not delay treatment by placing your hope on certain drugs that disperse nodules and resolve stasis. As mentioned above, the preventive measures before the danger comes are often within our control; but once breast cancer has taken a long way, even breast surgeons who have been fighting with it for years sometimes cannot guarantee to repel it. The only way to prevent breast cancer is to prevent it from happening in the first place!
