Plating of fractures is usually not a major surgery, but a moderate one. The operating time for fracture plating is basically about 1-2 hours, and rarely exceeds two hours. The amount of bleeding during the operation is relatively small, especially in the case of limb fractures, and there is almost no significant bleeding during the operation with a tourniquet, which is less traumatic for the patient. In relative terms, this type of surgery is moderate and is not considered major surgery. Major surgery takes longer, is more difficult, has more bleeding during the operation, and is riskier, and can only be considered major surgery if the above conditions are met. For orthopedics, major surgery is usually concentrated around the spine, involving the cervical, lumbar and thoracic spine and the corresponding spinal cord areas.
