How long can a breast tumor live?

There are various types of breast tumors. If a patient suffers from breast tumor, how long he/she can live is affected by the type of the type, personal constitution, whether he/she receives effective treatment and other factors, and there is no definite figure, nor can we make a generalization. Usually, benign tumors are less affected and have a better prognosis, which hardly affect the life expectancy of patients; malignant tumors, i.e. how long can cancer live, need to be determined according to the situation, early stage cancer has a better prognosis and the survival time is generally longer than the middle and late stage, while late stage cancer has a worse prognosis and the survival time is shorter. 1. Benign tumors: benign breast tumors are more common, mainly including breast fibroadenoma, intraductal breast tumor, papilloma, etc., which are usually found in the early stage. In general, early stage tumors have a better prognosis after timely treatment and removal, which are not easy to recur and will not affect patients’ lives. However, it should be noted that there is a certain possibility of malignancy in intraductal papilloma, so regular physical examination and review should be conducted after surgery. 2. Malignant tumors: The most common malignant tumor in breast is breast cancer, and less common is breast sarcoma. Nowadays, after regular and systematic treatment, the five-year survival rate of early to mid-stage breast cancer can reach 80-90%, while the five-year survival rate of advanced breast cancer is only 20% or so. Therefore, once a malignant tumor of breast is detected, it should receive timely treatment to achieve better results.
