Pharmacological treatment of pneumonia is mainly anti-infective, cough suppressant and phlegm treatment. Anti-infective treatment requires clarification of which pathogen is infecting the patient. Viral pneumonia requires antiviral treatment with oseltamivir and paramivir. Bacterial pneumonia can be treated with penicillin and cephalosporins. Mycoplasma pneumonia requires azithromycin or levofloxacin to fight the infection. For fungal pneumonia, antifungal drugs such as daflucan and voriconazole are needed. For cough caused by pneumonia, if the cough is dry, glycyrrhiza combined with compound forskolin can be used; if the sputum is high, strong cough suppressants are not suitable and sputum treatment such as tranylcypromine and genoton is needed. Some patients may have airway spasm, which is manifested as chest tightness, shortness of breath and other discomfort, and can be given nebulizer such as Bolicamny and Pramipexole to relieve the symptoms.
