Many mothers say their children don’t grow up, but every mother has a different standard for height. If you think your child is short in height, you can check the following criteria. If it belongs to one of the following things, you should go to the hospital to get checked. 1. The growth rate is less than 4cm in 1 year; 2. Both mother and father are short; 3. Compared with other children, they are among the shortest 3 out of 100; 4. The predicted future height is less than 165cm for men and less than 150cm for women. If the above situation occurs, the first thing to do is to go to the hospital to find out the cause. It needs to be determined whether the child is suffering from some disease that affects height or is a late growth type. The following three tests are required when you go to the hospital for height problems. (1) Personal medical history: Find out the child’s weight and height at birth, any history of choking, and the state of physical health for the last 2-3 years. Find out the height and weight of the parents and siblings and other family conditions. Also find out the child’s usual diet and nutritional intake. (2) X-rays: X-rays will be taken of the left wrist to confirm that the child’s bone age and epiphyseal plate are normal. (3) Blood test and urine test: To determine whether the child has chronic diseases or chromosomal abnormalities. Understanding the causes of growth disorders The above tests can determine the causes of growth disorders. Generally malnutrition, heart or kidney disease, lack of thyroid hormone, and lack of growth hormone are more common causes. If the growth disorder is caused by a disease, the primary disease, such as congenital heart disease or chronic kidney disease, should be treated first. If the growth disorder is triggered by a lack of thyroid hormone, thyroid hormone has to be supplemented first; if growth hormone is lacking, growth hormone treatment is required.
