Wellness for patients with cirrhosis

Cirrhosis is a disease in which the structure of the liver is changed and hardened by various causes, and the most common causes in China are hepatitis B virus infection and long-term alcohol consumption. Once cirrhosis is formed, liver function decreases significantly, and medication becomes incompetent at this time, and in order to prevent the occurrence of complications and further development of cirrhosis, personal life conditioning is particularly important. For this reason, here are some suggestions and advice on life for friends with cirrhosis. 1, maintain a calm, stable emotions calm, stable emotions help diet and sleep, to maintain the normal functioning of immune function, and therefore conducive to liver cell repair. There is an old saying in Chinese medicine called “anger hurts the liver”, which is scientifically justified, using modern medical theory to explain that: in the case of anger, the body’s sympathetic nerves are highly excited, metabolic waste increases, which will increase the burden on the liver; at the same time, the liver vasoconstriction, blood flow is reduced, liver cells are ischemic, aggravating liver damage. Therefore, in ordinary life and work to avoid emotional ups and downs, in case of things to think calmly, calm treatment. Once a conflict or dispute occurs, try to take a few deep breaths to calm your exuberant emotions. If it is not a matter of principle, be tolerant if you can, and be humble if you can, because from a personal point of view, after all, health is the most important. 2, to ensure nutrition, scientific diet after the formation of cirrhosis, the metabolic function of the liver has been overwhelmed, at this time to ensure the need for normal nutrition, but also can not increase the burden on the liver, in the diet should be extra careful. For patients with normal liver function, a high quality protein, high vitamin and low fat diet can be considered. Eggs, milk, lean meat, fresh vegetables and soft fruits (such as bananas, mangoes and kiwis) are all good choices. However, for patients with obvious abnormal liver function, protein should be controlled because a high-protein diet can induce liver coma. At this time, the diet should be mainly light, such as steamed buns, noodles, thin rice, fresh vegetables, and be sure to keep the bowels open. Patients with ascites and lower limb edema should not have a salty diet, and should have a low salt diet. All patients with cirrhosis should avoid eating rough foods, such as nuts, doughnuts, crunchy fruits (such as pears, apples), etc., because patients have varying degrees of esophagogastric fundic varices, and if they eat rough foods, they may cut these varices and cause gastrointestinal hemorrhage. 3, strictly avoid alcohol, do not smoke The chemical composition of alcohol is ethanol, mainly through the liver metabolism into acetaldehyde and acetic acid. Ethanol and acetaldehyde are highly reactive oxides, especially acetaldehyde has a direct destructive effect on liver cells. Cirrhosis itself has obvious liver damage, if you drink alcohol, it will certainly add to the problem, accelerate the process of cirrhosis, and even catalyze the occurrence of liver cancer. The higher the degree of alcohol, the greater the intake, the more serious the liver damage. Therefore, patients with cirrhosis must absolutely avoid alcohol, any drink with the word “alcohol” must be avoided. The toxic effect of tobacco on the liver seems to be less obvious than alcohol, but tobacco contains nicotine, tar, benzopyrene and other harmful substances to the human body damage after inhalation is also clear. These harmful substances into the body must be metabolized by the liver, which will increase the burden on the liver, and direct damage to liver cells. In addition, nicotine will affect the liver microcirculation, making the liver ischemia, affecting liver function. Therefore, patients with cirrhosis should not smoke, and friends who are addicted to smoking should set out a plan to quit smoking and overcome this bad habit. 4.Participate in various activities according to your ability Patients with normal liver function are allowed to engage in some light physical labor, but should try to avoid heavy physical labor, and toxic chemical contact work should also be avoided. After work, you can take part in some cultural and sports activities according to your personal preferences, such as playing the piano, chess, painting; playing tai chi, swimming, hiking, etc., which are very good for regulating your emotion and strengthening your physical fitness. But the prerequisite is that each activity should not be too long, the amount of activity to do not feel tired, not too late at night, to avoid excessive excitement and affect sleep. In terms of physical exercise, do not participate in athletic competitions, especially not in sports activities that require explosive play, such as weightlifting, high jumping, long jumping, because these sports will cause a rapid increase in abdominal pressure in a short period of time, which can easily cause bleeding from rupture of the varicose esophagogastric fundic vein. Patients with abnormal liver function should get enough rest and try to be less active, and can watch TV and listen to music at home. Do not stay up late at any time, to ensure sufficient sleep. 5, prevention of microscopic, prevention of various infections cirrhosis patients immunity and resistance are very poor, it is easy to occur a variety of infections, once the infection, treatment is also very difficult. Therefore, in daily life, it is necessary to prevent the slightest and avoid the potential danger of various infections. If the skin is broken, disinfect, clean, cover with gauze, and change medicine regularly; keep oral hygiene, rinse mouth and brush teeth regularly, and actively treat caries, gingivitis or periodontitis; pay attention to dietary hygiene, eat less or no cold drinks, no moldy and expired food, no cold dishes mixed in restaurants; wear medical cotton masks in winter to protect the respiratory tract from the stimulation of cold air and reduce the chance of respiratory tract infections; if the liver function is not good, wear a medical gauze mask to protect the respiratory tract from the stimulation of cold air. If the liver function is stable and normal, you should actively inject various vaccines, such as influenza vaccine, influenza vaccine, pneumococcal vaccine, etc.
