There are no sequelae to syringomyelia surgery. Because the cause of syringomyelia is congenital in most children, it is mainly caused by the unclosed sphincter, and our surgery is to ligate the unclosed sphincter to release the excess fluid and restore it to a normal state. The after-effects that people worry about may also be how risky the surgery is. In fact, this idea is superfluous because the sphincter ligation procedure for syringomyelia is well established and it is safe whether it is a traditional procedure or a laparoscopic sphincter ligation. After the surgery, the child is usually allowed to get out of bed after 24 hours, and there are usually no complications and no swelling of the affected testicle. In some cases, after the surgery, parents see that the testicles are still asymmetrical on both sides, one side is still large and the other is small. In some cases, when we did the surgery, we only tied off the channel of flowing water, the distal fluid may not be completely released, there is still a small amount of fluid, don’t worry about this, it has 2-3 months, the fluid will be absorbed naturally, this is a normal process.
