In order to meet the needs of clinical treatment and research development of acupuncture, the World Health Organization held a conference in Milan, Italy in 1996, and proposed 64 indications for acupuncture, which are discussed as follows: I. Respiratory diseases Allergic rhinitis; sinusitis; rhinitis; colds; tonsillitis; acute and chronic laryngitis; tracheitis; bronchial asthma. Eye diseases Acute conjunctivitis; central retinitis; myopia; cataract. Oral diseases Toothache; post-extraction pain; gingivitis. Gastrointestinal system diseases esophageal and cardia dysostosis; erratic; gastric prolapse; acute and chronic gastritis; hyperacidity; chronic duodenal ulcer (pain relief); simple acute duodenal ulceritis; acute and chronic colitis; acute (chronic) bacillary dysentery; constipation; diarrhea; intestinal paralysis. V. Nerve, muscle and bone diseases Headache; migraine; trigeminal neuralgia; facial nerve palsy; mild paralysis after stroke; peripheral nerve disorders; pediatric poliomyelitis sequelae; Meniere’s syndrome; neurogenic bladder dysfunction; enuresis; intercostal neuralgia; cervicobrachial syndrome; shoulder coagulation; tennis elbow; sciatica; lumbago; arthritis; pediatric cerebral palsy.
