Minor cases of excessive dandruff can be improved by daily treatment and do not require specific treatment. Excessive dandruff due to various types of dermatitis needs to be treated accordingly. Excessive dandruff caused by seborrhoeic dermatitis should be treated with a medicated shampoo or medication to remove fat, reduce inflammation, sterilise and stop itching. Excessive dandruff caused by contact dermatitis should be treated symptomatically after rapid removal of the irritant.
