Why is cancer a chronic disease?

In 2006, the World Health Organization first suggested that cancer is actually a chronic disease that can be regulated. Since it is a chronic disease, it also means that it occurs slowly and heals slowly. Why do you say slow onset? It is necessary to clarify why people get cancer in the first place. Under normal circumstances, cells undergo metabolism according to their respective growth cycles and are constantly renewed to maintain the normal function of human body. In this process, due to the influence of external environment and the body itself, some cells have a particularly strong and fast growth capacity and mutation, resulting in “precancerous cells”. Afterwards, about 1/3 of the “precancerous cells” will develop into malignant tumors under the effect of various cancer-promoting factors. However, this evolution does not occur overnight, but usually over a period of 10-30 years. Therefore, this process is both preventable and can be detected, treated and cured early through screening. Because of this, the World Health Organization suggests that regular medical checkups, learning to recognize the early signs of cancer and seeking immediate treatment are important for cancer treatment. However, unfortunately, the public does not pay enough attention to self-health, and most people only know to “mend the fold” when they get sick. However, we should pay more attention to the prevention of cancer and try to follow the following principles of cancer prevention: firstly, to stay away from cancer-causing factors and change bad habits; secondly, to have effective health check-ups every year; thirdly, to treat precancerous lesions; and fourthly, to exercise to maintain physical and mental health. Even if you have a tumor, there is no need to be overly nervous. The treatment of cancer is a long process. Originally, we have been devoted to kill all tumor cells completely to eradicate tumors, sometimes far beyond the scope of tumor cell invasion and the limit that patients may bear. However, in fact, many chronic diseases have failed to be cured, and patients have been able to work normally and maintain a good life for a long time. With this in mind, it is undoubtedly the new generation of tumor treatment to maximize the patient’s resistance to disease, control and reduce the harm of tumor to the body as much as possible, so that the patient can have a good quality of life for a long time and “live peacefully” with tumor.
