If the fracture is not serious and there is no obvious dislocation, it can be treated conservatively with external fixation in plaster for about one and a half to two months, and the fracture will heal well when the film is reviewed. However, if the fracture is obviously misaligned or comminuted, surgery is needed, and it will take three months or even longer for the fracture to heal before it can slowly adapt to the ground for functional rehabilitation and walking, and it will take about six months to return to the normal walking level. This is directly related to the serious misalignment of the fracture and the involvement of the joint surface.
