Manifestations of CT in chronic pneumonia

Patients with chronic pneumonia are mainly affected by acute pneumonia that does not heal completely and has a duration of more than 3 months. The CT manifestations have the following characteristics: there may be localized or diffuse lesions in the lungs, with a variety of foci, and there may be dry fibrotic and calcified lesions, with a striated distribution, or patchy or punctate distribution of calcified shadows. In addition, if the inflammation is severe and prolonged, with some destruction of the lung tissue, single or multiple fibrous cavity formation may occur. In addition, if the inflammation is in the reaction phase, there can be different degrees of intrapulmonary effusion, a small amount of effusion is the most common, there can be pus cavities, and the effusion contained in the pus cavity shows a high external and low internal curved shadow, which is the fluid plane of the effusion.
