How long does it take to recover after radical breast cancer surgery

After radical breast cancer surgery, it usually takes about a month to recover. Radical breast cancer surgery involves removal of the entire breast gland and axillary lymph node dissection, which is generally more traumatic. After the gland is removed, the flap has to fuse with the body’s own tissue, that is, grow together, which may lead to local fluid accumulation, pain, etc. In addition, the upper limbs may become edematous or have limited movement. Patients can gradually perform functional exercises in about a week, and it usually takes about a month to return to full normal.
