Effective Bone Metastasis Pain Treatment – Nuclear Therapy for Bone Metastases

Bone metastasis of malignant tumors is a very common complication of advanced malignant tumors, and about half of the tumors, such as lung cancer, breast cancer and prostate cancer, eventually develop bone metastasis. Bone metastasis can cause severe pain, which seriously affects the quality of life of patients. Nuclide therapy is a kind of internal irradiation therapy with obvious effect, little side effect, non-addiction and direct killing effect on tumor. Commonly used nuclide internal irradiation therapy drugs are strontium 89 and samarium 153. Nuclide therapy drugs can selectively concentrate in the metastatic tumor, and its continuously emitted β-rays can kill the tumor cells to achieve the purpose of treatment. After one course of treatment 1/3 of the metastatic tumors get better, nearly 90% of the patients have pain relief, and 1/3 of them have pain disappearance. For patients for whom other treatments have not worked, the treatment can still achieve a pain relief rate of nearly 60%.
