How long can you live with advanced bowel cancer?

The survival time of advanced stage of bowel cancer is related to the type of disease, individual condition, treatment and care of patients, and cannot be generalized. Clinically, bowel cancer can include rectal and colon cancer, small intestine cancer, etc. Advanced stage of bowel cancer refers to tumor staging, invasion of submucosal layer, basal layer, and even breakthrough of plasma membrane layer, and metastasis of adjacent organs or distant metastasis. Such patients usually cannot be treated by surgery, and the common treatment methods are radiotherapy, chemotherapy and palliative care. If the tumor metastasizes to the liver and the number of lesions is small and limited, the 5-year survival rate of patients can reach 50% after surgical resection. If no therapeutic measures are taken or the metastases cannot be removed, the 5-year survival rate is almost zero. The overall 5-year survival rate of late stage bowel cancer is not ideal, and the clinical data may be less than 20%. Bowel cancer needs early detection and treatment, pay attention to dietary hygiene in daily life, don’t eat too spicy and greasy food, and eat more fruits and vegetables, etc.
