Reflux esophagitis is usually not serious and mainly refers to heartburn, acid reflux and other uncomfortable symptoms caused by the reflux of gastric acid and other stomach contents into the esophagus. A small number of patients may also experience chest pain, upper abdominal discomfort, belching, hiccups, cough, asthma, and laryngitis. Usually, attention to lifestyle changes such as elevating the head of the bed 15-20cm, reducing weight, avoiding high-fat diet, quitting smoking and alcohol, reducing chocolate, strong tea, coffee and other foods, not wearing tight-fitting clothes and pants, keeping a happy mood, a calm mind and not moving liver fire, can all lead to better improvement of the above symptoms. Medication can also be used, generally commonly used are acid suppressants and drugs that promote gastrointestinal motility. However, there are a small number of patients who show more severe symptoms of acid reflux and heartburn and need to be given medication for at least 8 weeks, and long-term treatment is also required depending on the specific situation in order to avoid relapse of the medication.
