The 3rd China Transplant Games in Shanghai

  Xinhua Shanghai correspondent Qiu Yi reported on June 15: the third China Transplant Games held in Shanghai on June 14, more than 500 “athletes” who have received heart, liver and kidney transplants and recovered from health will show the power of new life through more than 20 sports competitions.  Among the participating “athletes” are 30 from Hong Kong SAR, China. Two “transplant athletes” from the Mongolian People’s Republic and one accompanying physician are also participating in this festival for transplant recipients.  During the Games, the “athletes” will participate in medical training, receive expert guidance, and participate in meaningful activities such as the “Scar Show” and the “One Kilometer Run for Love”, while 10 medical emergency personnel and one professional ambulance are on standby.  The 3rd China Transplantation Games was organized by the Chinese Medical Association Organ Transplantation Branch, the Chinese People’s Liberation Army Organ Transplantation Professional Committee, and led by Zhongshan Hospital of Fudan University. The first and second China Transplant Games were held in Wuhan in June 2004 and 2006, which played a positive role in raising public awareness of organ donation, promoting China’s organ transplant legislation and showcasing China’s organ transplant achievements to the world.
