How to diagnose tuberculosis with negative sputum

Positive sputum is the gold standard for confirming TB, but negative sputum antacid staining does not exclude TB, and TB patients can also be diagnosed clinically through relevant clinical symptoms and other ancillary tests. The common clinical symptoms of active tuberculosis are cough, sputum, low fever, fatigue, night sweats, and emaciation. PPD test is usually strongly positive, and the diagnosis of active TB can be confirmed clinically by combining clinical symptoms, blood sedimentation, PPD and pulmonary CT.
