Fracture of the fibula mainly manifests as pain, swelling and bruising on the lateral side of the calf, and the pain is aggravated when walking. Whether a fibula fracture requires surgery varies from person to person: 1. For patients with mild fractures and no fracture displacement, conservative treatment can be chosen and surgical intervention is generally not required; 2. For patients with severe fractures causing severe deformities and dislocations, surgical internal fixation treatment should be performed in a timely manner, mostly using plates or intramedullary pins for fixation in clinical practice. Suitable treatment should be selected under the guidance of a physician according to the severity of the fracture and the presence or absence of dislocation.
