Most tuberculosis and brucellosis spondylitis can be treated conservatively. Surgery should only be performed if there is a large abscess, destruction of bone structure, deformity, destruction of cervical spine stability, if conservative treatment has failed, and if spinal nerve damage has occurred or is about to occur.
