It is important not to panic if you experience chest pain after a fall, but to first identify which part of the body you landed on after the fall, whether you landed on your chest and whether the chest pain is related to deep breathing/coughing.
Therefore, if you have landed on your chest or have chest pain related to breathing that does not subside after a fall, you should go to the hospital promptly and have a chest X-ray done to determine if there are any rib fractures or pneumothorax. If rib fractures and pneumothorax occur, they should be treated in a timely manner.
