Do I need to treat hypertensive patients without symptoms?

Our country in 2002, the Ministry of Health organized a national survey on the nutrition and health status of 270,000 people, which showed that the prevalence of hypertension among adults over 18 years of age reached 18.8%, according to which it is estimated that there are 160 million hypertensive patients in the country. Compared with the information in 1991, it has increased by another 31%. Now that another decade has passed, what is the prevalence of hypertension? According to the China Cardiovascular Disease Report 2012, local surveys in recent years in China suggest that the prevalence of hypertension in adults over 18 years of age is more than 25%, with some areas in the north reaching more than 30%. According to the projection, the prevalence of hypertension in 2012 was 24%, and it is estimated that there are 266 million hypertensive patients nationwide. However, many people do not test their blood pressure for a long time and do not know when they have hypertension, which is a worrying situation! A few years ago, an epidemiological survey conducted in Taizhou City showed that 33% of adults over the age of 30 had hypertension, that is: three people must have hypertension. And there are about 20% of hypertensive patients who do not feel it, and these patients are more harmful, often they only know they have hypertension when they have brain hemorrhage, stroke, coronary heart disease, heart attack and other complications, but it is too late, causing great difficulties for the future treatment and recovery. Therefore, we often organize charity clinics to measure blood pressure for patients to detect hypertension early and treat it early to avoid complications. We also conduct health lectures and promote scientific knowledge, so that the majority of patients can pay attention to their own blood pressure status and that of their families. However, there are still individual patients who do not pay attention to it. I remember an old gentleman whose blood pressure was measured at 240/140mmHg. We advised him to be hospitalized immediately to stabilize his blood pressure, but he insisted not to listen, saying that he did not feel anything and there would certainly be no problem. A few days later, the old man went into a coma with a brain hemorrhage and was hospitalized to save his life, but his limbs were paralyzed and he lost his speech. The family regretted it, and the old gentleman could no longer express his feelings in words.
