Mandibular fractures should be treated by oral and maxillofacial surgery, which involves not only the common extraction of teeth, but also surgery for trauma to the soft and bone tissues of the face and for tumors. For jaw fractures, surgery is usually performed by opening the incision and then using orthopedic materials such as titanium plates to join the bone. If the fracture of the jaw is not very serious, conventional conservative treatment, such as single jaw fixation or intermaxillary ligation, is also performed by an oral and maxillofacial surgeon.
