The exact location of lung Yu positioning

Lung points are located in the back of the body, under the spinous process of the 3rd thoracic vertebra, 1.5 inches from the posterior midline, with a total of 2 points, symmetrically distributed to the left and right. If you want to find the exact location of the lung points, you can maintain a sitting position with your head down, where the highest point of the bones at the junction of the neck and back is the spinous process of the 7th cervical vertebra, from which the spinous process of the 3rd thoracic vertebra is located after counting down three vertebrae. A horizontal line is drawn through the spinous process of the 3rd thoracic vertebra, and a vertical line is drawn through the medial edge of each scapula, and the two intersections of these three lines are the two lung points. Alternatively, after locating the spinous process of the 3rd thoracic vertebrae, one can use the bony method to locate the left and right side openings at 1.5 inches, where 1.5 inches is about the width of the measured person’s index and middle fingers together. Usually, a soreness and swelling will occur if pressure is applied to the lung acupuncture point. However, it is important to note that if one wishes to use the Lung Yu point for related treatment, it can be positioned by a medical professional; self-positioning may result in errors. If a patient has a back fascia strain, especially a strain of the erector spinae, acupuncture and pressure on the Lung Yu point can be used as an adjunct to treatment. Respiratory diseases such as cough, hemoptysis, shortness of breath, and night sweats caused by pneumonia, tuberculosis, bronchitis, and bronchial asthma can also be treated by moxibustion and acupuncture on the lung points, but avoid taking the above methods on your own, which may aggravate the symptoms and even induce other abnormalities.
