Differentiation of pediatric acute abdomen

The causes of acute abdominal pain in children are diverse, some of them are caused by surgical diseases such as appendicitis and intestinal obstruction; some of them may be the concomitant symptoms of medical diseases such as cold and pneumonia. Accurate identification of the causes of abdominal pain is very important, because children are not sensitive to the localization of pain, inaccurate language expression and uncooperative physical examination and other reasons that make the clinical diagnosis of acute abdominal disease difficult. Acute abdominal disease has the following characteristics: 1. persistent abdominal pain for more than 2 hours; 2. fixed location of pain; 3. painful areas cannot be pressed; 4. accompanied by fever, elevated white blood cells and other manifestations. The first cause of pediatric acute abdomen is acute appendicitis. Due to the low resistance of children and the anatomy of the appendix in children, the progression of appendicitis in children is more likely to be complicated by perforation, so surgery is recommended. The surgical method can be either open or laparoscopic, both of which can achieve satisfactory results.
