New research shows that frequent use of laptops by men may affect reproductive health and increase the risk of infertility. Those who invented laptops must not have considered the dangers to male reproductive health, but the study confirms that placing the computer in the lap while working raises the temperature in the male pubic area, which affects the quality of semen. The researchers noted that there is nothing better to do than to place the laptop on the table. The researchers measured the temperature of the scrotum of 29 young men while working with their laptops balanced on their laps and found that the temperature of the scrotum rose rapidly even when washers were placed underneath the laptop. Within about 10-15 minutes of using the laptop, the temperature of the scrotum was beyond the safe range, but the men didn’t feel it at all. Dr. Yefim Sheynkin, a urologist at the State University of New York, says that millions of men are using laptops today, especially those in the younger age groups of childbearing. While no studies have confirmed how laptops affect male fertility, early research has shown that raising the scrotal temperature by 1C is enough to cause damage to sperm.
