Infections in mid-pregnancy tend to result in stillbirth, premature birth and severe brain and eye disorders
Infections in late pregnancy, where fetal development can be normal but there can be preterm birth or symptoms may gradually appear months/years after birth, such as heart malformations, heart block, deafness, microcephaly or mental retardation.
