How much do you know about cholinergic urticaria?

A special type of urticaria, called cholinergic urticaria, is a type of rash that is often referred to as “rubella”. When heat, stress, spicy and hot food or drink, or after exercise, the body temperature increases slightly and the increased blood flow stimulates the thermoregulatory center of the brain, which excites the cholinergic nerves and releases acetylcholine, an allergic reaction can occur if the person is allergic to this chemical. This type of allergic reaction, in addition to no rash but a stinging, itching sensation, can also appear on the trunk and proximal skin of the extremities (except axillary, palmoplantar), red, about 2 mm “wind masses”, which are quick to come and go without leaving a trace. Mild cholinergic urticaria can occur in adolescence, usually after the cessation of exercise or calm, the symptoms can subside, so it is not easy to attract attention. The whole process can vary from months to years, and those who have frequent attacks should go to the dermatology department for timely treatment. The condition can be reduced or relieved by antihistamines and anti-acetylcholine medication. There are types of urticaria such as common urticaria, angioedema, artificial urticaria, solar urticaria, cold urticaria, and cholinergic urticaria. The treatment method is the same.
