Treatment of frozen shoulder

Frozen shoulder is a chronic disease that takes a long time to treat and should be treated gradually, not in a hurry. It is important to give full play to the patient’s initiative, to actively cooperate with the doctor’s treatment, and to take the initiative to do functional exercises, which are conducive to early recovery of joint function. In addition, to build up confidence, most patients can be gradually cured by treatment. ① Functional exercise plays an important role in the treatment of frozen shoulder. Functional exercise can improve joint blood flow, increase synovial fluid secretion in joints and tendons, and restore the function of joints. Functional exercise should gradually increase the range of motion of the joint as long as the pain is tolerable. Exercise should be done with shoulder abduction, extension, forward flexion and rotation until you can move around. Both shoulder joints should be moved at the same time. It is better to move the other joints of the body first and then move the diseased joint. The purpose of physiotherapy is to improve blood flow in the shoulder, reduce inflammation and relieve pain. It is better to use physiotherapy with functional exercise and medication. Tui na, massage, acupuncture and fire cupping have certain effect. ③Medication is a complementary treatment, which is used for anti-inflammatory and pain relief. Commonly used anti-inflammatory and pain-relieving drugs include: ibuprofen, fentanyl, furosemide and so on. Topical application can also be used. If the pain point is limited, prednisone acetate or cortisone acetate can be used for local closure, but generally do not do intra-articular closure, so as not to damage the articular cartilage. ④Surgical treatment can be considered for patients with long history and serious condition. Commonly used surgeries are: biceps longus tendon fixation, rostro-humeral ligament severance, etc.
