The reason for anal dampness after haemorrhoid surgery is considered to be related to an early increase in discharge from the local wound. As the wound after haemorrhoid surgery is not stitched and is an open wound, the self-cleaning function of the post-operative wound can make early discharge more likely. Patients are advised to cleanse and change the wound daily, wear loose fitting clothing and avoid excessively loose stools.
