Spinal canal lipoma is a benign tumor in the spinal canal, which generally grows slowly and is sometimes associated with other deformities of the spinal canal. Surgery is an option for treatment, with the advantage that tumor adhesions are lighter and easier to peel off when the child is younger; regular follow-up is also an option for asymptomatic children, with the advantage that older children (>3 years old) are more likely to cooperate with treatment and have better wound healing.
