How to treat bilateral diffuse thyroid lesions and right-sided thyroid nodules

Bilateral diffuse thyroid lesion is a pathological state change, common in Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, hyperthyroidism, goiter and other diseases, need to clarify the cause of the symptomatic treatment, such as hyperthyroidism can be given antithyroid drugs treatment. Right-sided thyroid nodules need to be treated according to the nature of the nodule, if there are no obvious symptoms, can be regularly reviewed. 1. Hashimoto’s thyroiditis: For nodules associated with Hashimoto’s thyroiditis, a “low iodine diet” is recommended, i.e. limiting high iodine foods while consuming iodized salt. If accompanied by hypothyroidism, thyroxine should be given as replacement therapy as prescribed by the doctor. 2. Hyperthyroidism: anti-thyroid drugs such as propylthiouracil and methimazole should be used as prescribed by the doctor, or radioactive iodine treatment, or surgical treatment if necessary. 3. Enlarged thyroid gland: enlarged thyroid gland may be benign or malignant, which needs to be examined with the help of thyroid function test and thyroid ultrasound, and treated with surgery if necessary. 4. Right-sided thyroid nodule: if it is benign nodule, it usually does not need to be treated, and regular review can be done. If the nodule is malignant by puncture biopsy, surgical resection will be performed if necessary. Patients with bilateral diffuse thyroid lesions and right-sided thyroid nodules need to go to the hospital in time.
