Three myths about shoulder pain

Many patients who have shoulder joint pain in their 40s and 50s diagnose themselves with frozen shoulder, so they take medication and plasters on their own, and they hear that lifting their arms more can exercise their shoulder joints. In fact, many patients go to the hospital after examination to know that the original has been troubled by their own is not frozen shoulder. There are many reasons for shoulder pain, besides frozen shoulder, there are many other names that we usually don’t know much about, such as rotator cuff tear, glenoid labrum injury, acromioclavicular arthritis, subacromial impingement syndrome, biceps tendonitis and calcific supraspinatus tendonitis, etc. Even cervical spondylosis can cause shoulder discomfort, and depending on the cause and location of the disease, there will be different manifestations and different, or even completely opposite, treatments will be used. And these different diseases need to be diagnosed by a doctor in order to get professional treatment and recover as soon as possible. Here, we will talk about what are the misconceptions of shoulder pain patients. Misconception 1: Appeasement In his outpatient work, Dr. Luo found that more than 30% of the patients who had acute shoulder pain had been overwhelmed and chose to “put on their own ointment or bruise wine” when the pain attacked, and did not seek regular professional medical services, treating the symptoms but not the root cause. As a result, chronic shoulder pain starts. Myth 2: Only use painkillers or ointments for shoulder pain When the pain attacks, just take some painkillers or use ointments to put on where the pain is. I don’t know, painkillers or creams can only play a role in local temporary relief or control of pain, and will only cover up the symptoms. But the root cause of the pain is still not properly dealt with, resulting in the gradual development and aggravation of the original disease. In fact, the initial pain may only be a small muscle strain and easy to treat, but if it is not treated at home, it can develop into a big problem. Dr. Luo once treated a friend who came to the clinic in time for 2 days because of shoulder pain. After examination, it was a problem of supraspinatus muscle, which was healed immediately with a few stitches, but if left untreated, it would develop into a problem of the whole shoulder joint. Myth 3: Stop treatment right away when you first see the effect Acupuncture, physiotherapy, and sharpening needles have a certain effect on relieving shoulder pain caused by most causes. Some patients are very happy with the obvious effect after a few treatments, but they stop treatment because they are too busy or busy with work. After stopping the treatment, most of the patients will have recurrence immediately or in a short period of time, and the previous work will be lost. Dr. Luo hopes that all of us must start and finish well in order to have a good return.
