Post-operative considerations for gynecomastia

1.About post-operative edema and nipple sensation The edema, bruising and numbness after surgery are normal, and it takes about 2 weeks for most of the bruising and edema to be absorbed. It takes 2-3 months for the breast shape to return to normal. It is normal that the nipples may feel numb or have increased sensation after surgery, and sometimes there may be occasional pain. The recovery of nerves is the slowest, and nipple sensation usually returns gradually within 6-12 months.55 2. It is best to wear the shapewear continuously during the day and at night, but taking off for an hour or two in the shower every day will not affect the wearing effect. It is best to wear the shapewear continuously during the day and night. As the edema subsides after surgery, your shapewear may become looser and less tight than when you first wore it, which is normal. If the loosening is not particularly obvious, it is not a big problem and you can continue to wear it, or wear a soft undershirt (preferably one with no marks on the chest or one with the locking edge facing outward, as an undershirt with the locking edge facing inward may have indentation marks). 3, about bathing and wound treatment A week after surgery, you can start to take a bath, the time is limited to about 10 minutes, you can normally use the bath or shampoo, but avoid rubbing the surgical area, towel dry after washing, and blow dry the wound with a hair dryer, and apply alcohol or iodine. The current surgery is a skin removal-free method, which eliminates the need for post-operative wound care (no medication changes, no stitch removal) 4. If you want the incision marks to be lighter, you can choose MepiCare anti-scar care and start using it after the glue on the surface of the incision falls off. Avoid mouth for 3 months after surgery. After surgery, you can brush your teeth, wash your face, go for a walk, surf the internet, play with your cell phone, read books and watch TV, which are normal activities. Within 2 weeks after surgery, we should avoid strenuous exercise and minimize upper limb activities or weight-bearing, including carrying heavy objects and sudden straining. You can gradually resume exercise 2 weeks after surgery. This does not mean that you will be able to play basketball immediately after 14 days, but that you will be able to increase your strength and intensity little by little according to your recovery situation. You should be able to resume normal sports one month after surgery. I strongly recommend that post-operative friends (this is you are no longer a patient, because your problem has been solved, congratulations!) Pay attention to fitness exercises, especially for the pectoralis major muscle, which is very important to improve the shape of your breasts. You need to exercise to increase the thickness of the pectoralis major to achieve a fuller male chest shape (look at Schwarzenegger and Stallone). This is an opportunity to adjust your life through surgery. 6. What should I contact my doctor for after surgery? If you have sudden, persistent/progressive pain that does not go away, sudden enlargement of the chest, fever (38 degrees or more), purple or black skin on the chest, or any problems that you feel so worried that you can’t sleep, please contact your surgeon promptly and he or she will make a judgment and answer and deal with your situation accordingly.
