Chinese herbal soup for internal use

Chinese herbal tonics are most commonly used internally because of their fast absorption, flexible use of additions and subtractions, and remarkable therapeutic effects, but most parents find it difficult to accept the bitter taste of Chinese herbal medicine, which is not easy to feed. In fact, children have a process of getting used to it. For example, Huang Lian and Licorice decoction is commonly used clinically to treat fetus poisoning in newborns, and most of them can accept it and lay the foundation for taking Chinese medicine later. It is advisable to drink a small amount of Chinese medicine, about 60 ml per day for children under 1 week of age, which can be fed in a bottle like milk, and about 100 ml for 1-3 years old children in general. When feeding the medicine, hold the child in your arms, in a semi-recumbent position, with another person gently fixing the chin, and then gently pour it in with the tip of a small spoon close to the corner of the child’s mouth, and then release the chin after swallowing. After feeding the medicine, feed the child a small amount of plain water, then pick up the child and gently pat the back to avoid regurgitation and vomiting. 3-7 year old children can take about 150 ml per day and are encouraged to take the medicine on their own. 7-12 year old children can take about 250 ml per day and children over 12 years old can take the adult dose. If it is too bitter, you can add sugar or rock sugar at your discretion. It is better not to feed milk and not to eat before feeding the medicine, otherwise the child will refuse to take the medicine when he is full, and it is easy to regurgitate when he is strongly fed. At the same time, the child’s fear of taking medicine should be dispelled, as the child grows up and understands, parents should be patient and persuasive, reasoning. You can use the opportunity to tell stories to feed the medicine. Usually, you can’t scare your child with injections and medication, as this will create a bad impression and increase the difficulty of taking medication in the future. You can prepare some food that the child likes before taking the medicine, and if the child eats it, perform and reward it, which is good for taking the medicine again next time.
