Endometrial polyps may recur after excision. Endometrial polyps are localized hyperplasia of the endometrium for specific reasons, forming polyp-like growths, commonly caused by, for example, high estrogen levels in the body. The treatment of endometrial polyps is hysteroscopic endometrial polyp removal surgery. After excision, follow-up treatment can be given, such as intrauterine placement of a progestin-containing contraceptive ring such as Mannitol or oral progestin, to minimize the recurrence of endometrial polyps.
