Symptoms of purpura in children

The clinical manifestations of children’s purpura are closely related to the etiology of the disease, such as idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura can be manifested as skin and mucous membrane hemorrhage, and allergic purpura can be accompanied by joint pain in addition to hemorrhagic rash. 1. Idiopathic thrombocytopenic purpura: often with no cause of skin, mucous membrane bleeding as a prominent manifestation, bleeding petechiae, petechiae of different sizes, distribution of the whole body, mostly in the front of the lower limbs and bone elevation part of the skin. Mucosal hemorrhage can be seen in conjunctiva, buccal mucosa, soft palate mucosa petechiae, and in severe cases, it is manifested as nosebleed, gum bleeding, gastrointestinal bleeding, and even hematuria. 2. Henochromatous purpura: children with hemorrhagic rash on the extensor surfaces of both lower limbs, which varies in size and can be fused into pieces. Children with joint swelling and pain symptoms, often affected joints for the knee, ankle, wrist and so on. Some children develop gastrointestinal symptoms before the rash appears, which may be characterized by periumbilical or epigastric pain, similar to abdominal pain in the acute abdomen. Children with rapid progression of the disease often develop hematuria or proteinuria within 1 month.
