Care measures for postoperative drains in breast cancer

Drainage tubes are routinely placed after breast cancer surgery in order to adequately drain blood or lymphatic fluid from the operated area. The postoperative drainage tube care measures are as follows: 1. Avoid pulling or tugging the drainage tube, cover the drainage port with sterile dressing and change it once every 3-5 days; 2. Generally, the drainage tube is left in the breast area for about 3-5 days and the axillary drainage tube for about 5-9 days. The drainage bag should be changed every day, and the drainage flow, nature and color of the drainage bag should be recorded, and the amount of fluid drained every 24 hours should be recorded. When there is poor drainage or abnormal fluid drainage, the patient needs to communicate with the doctor in time. When there is poor drainage, the drainage tube should be replaced in time; when the flow of drainage gradually increases or the nature of drainage changes, corresponding treatment should be made in time.
