Abstract】Objective: To compare the clinical efficacy of anatomical locking plate and traditional anatomical plate internal fixation in the treatment of intertrochanteric fractures of the femur and to analyze the characteristics of the two internal fixation methods. Methods Retrospective analysis of 39 patients with intertrochanteric fractures of the femur treated by internal fixation with plates, divided into two groups according to the internal fixation method: group A used anatomical locking plate internal fixation technique, with 21 cases; group B applied traditional anatomical plate internal fixation technique, with 18 cases. The operation time, internal fixation failure rate, fracture healing time and excellent functional recovery rate were compared between the two groups. All patients were followed up from 3 to 18 (12.6±3.9) months, and all fractures healed. the operative time and excellent rate of functional recovery in group A [(75.3±15.0) min, 95.2% (20/21)] were significantly higher than those in group B [(91.6±16.0) min, 83.3% (15/18)] (P<0.05), and the failure rate of internal fixation [ 4.8% (1/21)] was significantly lower than that of group B [16.7% (3/18)] (P<0.05). As for the fracture healing time, there was no statistically significant difference between the two groups (P>0.05). Conclusion Plate internal fixation is an effective method for treating intertrochanteric fractures of the femur, and the application of anatomical locking plates has shorter operative time, more reliable internal fixation, and more satisfactory postoperative functional recovery than the application of traditional anatomical plate internal fixation for treating intertrochanteric fractures of the femur.
