Is cardiomegaly the same thing as cardiomyopathy?

Myocardial hypertrophy is not exactly the same as cardiomyopathy.
Myocardial hypertrophy is an increase in the size of cardiomyocytes due to a physiological or pathological increase in cardiac load and is not strictly a diagnosis of disease but rather a change from physiological to pathological at the cellular level.
There are many types of cardiomyopathies, ranging from myocardial lesions caused by different etiologies such as genetics leading to mechanical and electrical dysfunction of the heart muscle, such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, to secondary myocardial pathological changes caused by other cardiovascular diseases, such as ischaemic cardiomyopathy due to coronary artery disease.
