Should I continue to use my original anti-epileptic drugs when I start a ketogenic diet?

It is recommended that antiepileptic drugs be maintained for the first 6 months of the ketogenic diet. After 6 months, if the child’s symptoms are well controlled, they can be tapered off. The medication should be discontinued under the guidance of a neurologist, in a gradual process of tapering and decreasing the number of doses. In other words, if the child was taking a large dose, it can be reduced to a small dose; if the child was taking two drugs, it can be reduced by one first and then the second one according to the situation. If you were previously on monotherapy, the process will be longer until you stop taking the medication completely.
