Frequent bowel movement after colon cancer surgery may be a normal phenomenon, because patients undergoing radical surgery for colon tumor usually have to remove a section of intestinal tube including the tumor, and the length of the colon may be shortened after the removal of the intestinal tube. Because of the normal role of colon in absorbing water and forming stool, after the shortening of colon, the water absorption or forming of stool may be affected, so at the beginning, when the patient has bowel movement, the stool may be thinner and the number of stool is more, which is normal. After a period of time, maybe 3-6 months or even longer, the patient will get used to it and the stool will gradually return to the normal condition. It is also possible that the patient may have more frequent stools after surgery due to intestinal flora disorders, because laxatives are used before surgery, which may affect the probiotics in the intestinal tract and may lead to more frequent stools after surgery.
