Guangxi is a region with high prevalence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma; however, due to the atypical early symptoms of nasopharyngeal carcinoma and the lack of knowledge of some physicians about this disease, there may be a possibility of missing diagnosis when related discomfort occurs.
It is recommended to pay attention to the possibility of nasopharyngeal cancer in the following cases: 1. blood in repeated retracted snot or blood in nose blowing; 2. unexplained tinnitus, hearing loss, and sense of ear occlusion; 3. enlarged lymph nodes in the neck under the earlobe; 4. unexplained headache, vision loss, diplopia, ptosis, and facial palsy.
If the above manifestations occur, it is recommended to go to the hospital for relevant examinations such as EBV testing, nasopharyngoscopy, nasopharyngeal MRI, etc. If a swelling is found in the nasopharynx, biopsy of the swelling is feasible to clarify the pathology.
