It has a long course, stubborn symptoms and is not easily cured, with the main lesions occurring mostly in middle-aged people. It occurs because acute laryngitis is not treated thoroughly enough and repeated episodes become chronic, or because of chronic rhinitis, sinusitis, and physical and chemical factors often stimulate the pharynx. Various systemic diseases, such as anemia, chronic inflammation of the respiratory tract, cardiovascular disease, etc., can also be secondary to this disease. The main manifestations are foreign body sensation in the pharynx, increased and sticky secretions, excessive talking or weather changes, or aggravated by excessive consumption of tobacco, alcohol, sour and spicy food.
