Minimally invasive treatment of perianal abscess in infants and children

Child: male, 40 days old. He was suffering from crying and irritability, which was aggravated by bowel movements for two days. He was seen by his parents after they noticed the redness and swelling of the anus. Examination: A red swelling of about 2*2 cm in size, soft and painful to palpation was seen at 7 o’clock in the anus of the child. There was also a visible strip of material leading into the anus. The diagnosis was confirmed as: perianal abscess. After obtaining the consent of his parents, a minimally invasive radical abscess treatment was performed under local anesthesia. The whole procedure took 3 minutes and was completed successfully. His parents were very grateful. (His surgery was completed in August 2010.)
