What should I be aware of after surgery for pituitary tumors?

  Pituitary tumor is a common tumor in life, which not only brings certain impact on patients’ life, but also brings a heavy blow to their heart. Pituitary tumor is a common benign intracranial tumor that occurs in the pituitary gland, and its incidence ranks third only after glioma and meningioma. So what should be noted after treatment of pituitary tumor?  1.Headache: It may be caused by multiple factors such as edema of nasal mucosa and inflammation in butterfly sinus, and heavy cases can be treated symptomatically with painkillers.  2.Nasal discharge: within 1 month after surgery, nasal congestion often occurs, and there is a small amount of bloody discharge or cool liquid out of the nasal cavity constantly. Nasal drops can be injected in the nasal cavity to reduce inflammation.  3.Nasal bleeding: It mostly occurs after the gauze stuffed in the nasal cavity is removed after the operation, individually after several days, and can be seen in the light cases when cotton balls are temporarily filled in the nasal cavity. Severe cases (bleeding hundreds of milliliters) need to do angiography.  4, hypopituitarism: manifested as fever, general weakness, headache, nausea, vomiting, not thinking about eating and drinking, etc. Check blood cortisol and thyroid hormone, after the diagnosis is clear, use prednisone and thyroxine treatment under the guidance of the doctor.  5. Hyponatremia: It usually occurs on the 4th-8th postoperative day, manifested as hypothermia, weakness, headache, nausea, vomiting, and in severe cases, mental deterioration. Low blood and chloride values on laboratory tests. After the diagnosis is clear, the infusion is supplemented with hypertonic saline, and water intake is restricted.  6. Nasal leakage of spinal fluid: constant flow of clear water in the nose, aggravated by low head, accompanied by headache and possible fever. Surgical repair in severe cases.  7.Urinary collapse: manifested by drinking more water and urinating more. More than 4000 ml a day. Properly control drinking, record the amount of water and urine, and use medication appropriately. More orange juice and food vegetable soup with high salt content should be consumed during the occurrence of uveitis.  8. Loss of vision: Early on, it may be caused by factors such as vasospasm. Promptly report to the doctor upon detection.
