Diuretics for hypertension mainly include: 1) thiazide diuretics such as hydrochlorothiazide, whose diuretic effect is mainly on the posterior segment of the wall of the ascending branch of medullary collaterals; 2) collaterals diuretics such as furosemide, whose effect is on the coarse segment of the ascending branch of medullary collaterals; 3) potassium-protective diuretics such as spironolactone and aminopterin. Diuretics are the first line of antihypertensive drugs for hypertension, and care should be taken to monitor their side effects when they are used. The more common side effects of diuretics are electrolyte disorders, dehydration, and elevated blood uric acid and blood sugar.
