Can salt water gargle prevent novel coronavirus pneumonia

Salt water gargle can not prevent the new coronavirus. The method of “gargling with light salt water” is mostly used for the treatment of allergic rhinitis, cleaning the mouth, nasal cavity, throat, etc. It is helpful for pharyngitis and has a significant effect on the prevention of allergic diseases, but it is generally effective against pathogenic microorganisms. Also, since the site of novel coronavirus invasion is in the respiratory tract, gargling alone does not cleanse the respiratory tract. In addition, there are no studies suggesting that saline has a killing effect on the novel coronavirus.
